Just talked to my buddy about it, just to confirm. He said that the smaller, 12, 16 foot buildings are not that expensive to put up. It's the higher dollar I-beam buidlings that are.
He also added that not only are they ****** you on the fasteners, they **** you on the little piece of angle iron they sell you that goes around the perimeter. What this does is make it a non-permanent structure, because you bolt to this angle iron. This will help you pass code in many areas. Else, you make a C-channel in the concrete, and put it in there, and I guess concrete over it.
The smaller ones can be put up with a couple friends over a weekend though, after the concrete is poured. He also said that there were are ton of companies that all sell the same product. If you request info from the factory, they give the leads to everyone to call. Big competition. They will see to you at the dealer cost on many occasions, just to make the sales numbers. A couple compete on Ebay (my buddy's old place included), and most of those are damn close to cost, if not cost.
The factory is in Pittsburgh. The salesman call usually with some dumb story how they aren't salesman, they just work at the factory. Someone put a down payment on one, and they are just looking for the remainder of the balance so they can get it out of there.
He said that you can get them up to Cat 5 hurricane approved also, seeing your location.
This is a friend that I have known for about 8 years now, we have been best friends for all that time.
