The Craftsman files are made by Simonds. I don't have any Craftsman files but the Simmonds files I have are very good. I believe they are still made here in central MA a few miles east of me. I have noticed some of the Nicholson files in the stores now are made in Mexico.

I looked at this very set when looking to buy. It is most definitely not made in the USA. IIRC, I think it was made in Honduras. Some Nicholson are still made in USA though.

These were the only set of files I ever purchased back in about "91", I use em quite often and so no signs of wearing out yet. Not sure if todays are the same quality as the older ones, but they sure look the same.

I always give mine a quick hit with a brass brush and a quick spray of oil before putting them away.

That stinks. Not too surprising though I guess.

Lately I have been finding a lot of high quality files at yard sales for 25-50 cents apiece. I probably have all I need for a while but at that price I guess there is no harm in stocking up when I find them.

Yup, every estate sale I've been tool that has a bunch of tools always has old Nicholson riles. All the old-timers either liked quality files or that was pretty much all they sold. I've been tempted to buy them but they usually want several dollars for each and I've already got all that I need for now.

The other day, I helped a customer and said; "these craftsman files are made in USA and lifetime warranty", then I looked at the package and it said "made in china"!! These were the very small swiss files set; needless to say disappointing! I wonder if their vendor is changing or they are going on offshore?
