Very cool. Bummer that he didn't get to complete it, but it sounds like he was ok with that. Hopefully someone finishes it.

As a contractor the code approval process boggles my mind. Especially after reading the Article.

As an architect I can tell you that most leading Architectual schools are using digital tools and technology in an attempt to create this type of form / construction methodology.

Respect for his madness, commitment, and devotion.

At the time he started it, Lake Ransom was an unincorporated community so very few codes were required.

They have had that house on TV quite a few times. Extreme Homes on HGTV I believe. I think it's cool, and it will keep people from leaning on the walls.

Yes, I remember seeing several shows on this. I remember his young daughter at the time, was afraid of some of the spaces because of height. Can't blame her on that! but she seemed to enjoy hanging out with her dad and helping some. She had plans on living there full time when she got older, but it probably wasn't realistic.
I hope some ******* doesn't start to cut it up cause of the price of scrap metal. It would of been gone by now around here, with the meth heads looking for easy money.

What an awesome design to the place. Can't imagine tearing up parts and rebuilding on that scale, but at the same time I think several of us have seen it done/done it on automotive projects as the vision changes.

Been inside the house several times. First time was 20 years or so ago when I drove by to take a look and saw the house was open. Peeked in to find Robert taking a break. He kindly answered a few questions and let me look around before cranking up the welder again.

Just recently they had over 640 people show up and pay $10 each for an open house to benefit the arts.
