Steel peg board?

Been looking at adding some tool organization, and thinking a peg board would be a nice touch. Most of my mechanic tools are in my rolling tool box, but everything else, like screw drivers, and random tools, always seem to just be around, but never where I can actually find them when I need them.

I saw some nice galvanized peg board on Amazon and it seems like a pretty good deal, and will last a long time. But having a hard time finding nice looking hangers and useful hangers.
Wouldn't mind some parts container hangers that aren't a fortune too.

Anyone have recommendations for pegboard organization ideas?

I was headed towards metal pegboard but went with slatwall instead.

The thing I don't like about any kind of pegboard is that the hangers don't want to stay put in the holes on the board. If you can solve that, then I would tend to use pegboard more. Seems I'm always chasing pegboard hangers.

I might try metal pegboard.

There are some hangers out there that snap in, and stay in place.

I believe that they need to be on the 1/4" material, or they won't fit tight.

You need to look for hangers that are specific to metal peg board.

I have some of the Wall Control brand that has both pegs and slots.

The standard black plastic "locks" do not work at all in it. But if you get the 1/4" size with the second peg, those stay put pretty well.

I haven't tried any of the Wall Control proprietary hooks yet (for the slots). They have some stuff that looks pretty heavy duty for specific purposes though.

I wonder if A little bit of hot glue might help things stay in place? Once I figure out where everything should be I could take it off the wall, glue the back then put it back up eh?

There is a company called Storage squared. They offer a steel pegboard too. The hooks once stuck in the holes is super strong. A PIA to remove if I remember correctly.

I went with these guys for my old garage and I love it. In order to get the pegs to snap in tight order the optional backing board. I use it for point of use tooling. Don't try to purchase backing board locally and use it. It will work but the holes will not line up exactly and you will have to drill them out. Purchase the backing board option installed from the company.

I will also be putting this in my new garage.

I will second the Wallcontrol system. You can see it in my bench build. They have shelves and tool storage that fit the slots or if you have left over pegs you can you those as well.
I have tweeted the side tabs on their holders to get a tighter fit.

That diamond life looks great, but really pricy.

I ended up buying wall control off amazon. They have a sale on a nicely set up 96" package and I had to jump on it.

Woot.com has the Wall Control sets (2 & 3 panel sets) cheap every 3-4 months. If you like Wall Control on FB, they will update you when Woot has them up. I bought a set from Woot.

I have polished diamond plate peg board that I like the looks of. I picked it up at diamondlifegear.com a few years ago.

If you want to use pegboard and not have the hooks fall out, I recommend these. I've got them on mine and have never had a hook come out when I didn't want it to. The board I used is just the cheap stuff you can get at Home Depot.
