Im having a heck of a time finding a pair of steel toe work boots that actually fit. My main problem is I have pretty wide feet, especially my right foot for some reason :. Most boots ive tried on even in a wide size rub my right foot on its right side at the toes. The only pair that have almost fit was a pair of dickies, but the store didnt have black, which I needed. The dickies seemed to have a more squared off toe which is I think why they fit. Anyway, anyone have a similar situation and what fit you?

Just to add the boots need to be:
Black
Steel/safety toe
I prefer 6in
Waterproof would be nice
$100 and under would be nice.Double post. Ignore.

I prefer Wolverines, I believe the "sport tek" line.
I work for the local water dept and have been very happy with these.
I never get wet feet, and they come with composite toe or steel toe.
600 grams of insulation to boot (no pun intented)

You will not get them for $100, but Doc Martins have a very generous toe box that does not pinch, great quality, likely cost $140-160

GT89, I'm right there with you. I've got feet like Fred Flintstone. I told this to the woman at the safety shoe store, she told me the guy before had feet like a fat duck. "Here, try these" Redwings 6" lace up in brown. I have to wear inserts and these were the only thing that fit with the inserts in. Good luck

I just picked p a pair of Redwings. Not cheap, but my feet haven't felt this good in years. Steel toe, 8 in., waterproof and lace to toe. Plenty of toe room, taller than any others I've ever worn.

Not going back to cheap boots ever!

I've only heard good things about redwings, but I've never needed them enough to spend the $$. That said, if I needed boots for work, it really is worth the extra money to get good ones.

My every day boots are wesco, cost $300+, and worth every penny. I had some Fry's that were $120 and they were godawful.

My current car-work boots I got at sears on sale from $90 for $45ish, diehard suretracks, and I have to say comfort wise they're really amazing. Much lighter than my wescos and have the bouncy sole, if I were on my feet all day I'm sure they'd be the ones to get. Mine don't have steel toes but they're available.

So that's my suggestion, if you're price sensitive and I can't convince you to go big with redwings, I'd say check out Sears different lines and hopefully catch a sale. Good luck.

I also prefer Red Wings. I have a pretty bad problem with Calices on the sides of my heels. I never had issues with the Red Wings since I stopped wearing the inferior brands.

You are gonna pay. But cant beat the quality and comfort.

I have had the same problem with steel toe shoes as GT89mustang for years. I have owned a number of Redwings over the years and I'm sure they are Ok for people with moderately wide feet but they were never wide enough for my feet. As a point of reference, I find that New Balance athletic shoes in size 11.5 EEEE fit ok but are still a little tight in the right foot.

I never did find safety toe shoes that really fit well so I finally got a job that is pure desk and office with no time in a factory or warehouse. I'd still like a nice pair for working around the garage.

Sears doesnt have anything that fits, I tried. Its not so much price as finding something that actually fits. Price is a slight consideration though since its totally out of my pocket.

I wear a 10.5 wide, and I wear Red Wings with a composite toe. They have a store locally.

Expensive, but spend the damn money. I'm glad I did.

Well I don't mean to rain on the Redwing parade, but the pair of Redwing steel toes I had some years ago were by far the worst fitting pair of boots I ever owned - had more foot problems with that one !@#$&$#$~!~! pair of boots than any other. I may have just had a really flawed pair, but I'll never waste the money on another to find out. I've settled on Wesco boots as the best for my needs, although I doubt you'll be interested in them as they cost about 4x what you're looking to spend. I've tried other brands off and on over the years but keep coming back to Wesco. Expensive as all get-out (although still cheaper than White's) but fit like gloves for my feet.

Always buy boots from a store that fits you. Where I buy my redwings they will not let you leave unless they fit perfect. Go to a real shoe store for best fit and service.

Everybody is different, personally I wouldn't of bought my Redwing boots if I could of got another set of the Carolina Redwoods but they discontinued them and so the Redwings are what I got. Also for narrow feet they are about the only game in town anymore.

Always buy boots from a store that fits you. Where I buy my redwings they will not let you leave unless they fit perfect. Go to a real shoe store for best fit and service.

Best advice probably there is this thread. I just go in and they keep working with me until I find the right set for my feet based upon comfort and requirements that I have.

Doc Martens - got mine from their clearance section of their site for like $35. They are quite generous in the toe and saved my toes just today. Knocked a 300 pound steel plate (future top of my workbench) off the jackstands it was on, didn't even realize it had hit my toes until I saw it had cut the leather down to the steel toe. Could have lost a toe today if not for those shoes!

yet another vote for redwings. They hold up better than any other brand I've had, and at the end of the day, my feet are much happier. If I wear tennis shoes, I can't even make it through 8 hours at work. With the redwings I go home with my feet not even sore usually.

I have the same problem.........

Redwing has a new steel toe out called the "King Toe" (or something pretty close to that). It's made with extra room in the steel toe box. I was in the Redwing store a couple weeks back and they have it about a dozen styles. I've been wearing mine everyday since March and would buy them again.

I got mine on sale for $125.00

I have NEVER considered Redwings as an expensive boot. They are the only boot that I have seen that will stand up in the oilfield, and THEY ARE THE ONLY BOOT that will NOT slip on a wet or oily surface.

I tried a pair of Wolverines once, and it was like wearing a pair of boats on your feet.

Redwing USUALLY will give you a pretty good discount just for the asking.

Wolverine boots ****; your feet feel like you are wearing the shoebox and not the boots.
Never again.

Another vote for Redwing!!!
I just bought a pair of the old stand by 2406 ( got 3 pairs of free socks with the deal). I got the epoxy coating on the toes, those always wear through first.
If these are for work and are a requirement of your employer, you maybe entitled to an allowance from them.
My company gives a $75 allowance to our field workers.

This place in Cherry Hill (where the old racetrack was) is a corporate redwing store, they have a pretty amazing selection in there, I went in there one day while I was waiting for my wife to get done shopping, next time I need boots, I think I'm gonna start here..................

http://www.redwingshoestore.info/dealers/243/

Thanks, thats not a bad drive from me, the other place is a little too far.
