Hi guys, I want to build a garage in my yard

Something like 30x30x12 so I can put a car lift.

In your experience is a steel building cheaper than a CBS building?

Not sure about price difference. But I wish mine was steel. Mine is a morton wood frame, which it is a nice building, don't get me wrong. But with steel, you can have a open ceiling instead of rafters.

From the shops I've worked in red iron seems to be the best. I like the way their built better having the open ceiling. I had a buddy built one, it was a red iron building. It was a 30x40 and I think it had 14 ft sidewalls. I think he paid around 17,000, concrete included. He did a lot of the work himself.

I live in South Florida

I built a masonry buiding with steel roof. I cant imagine how much hotter it would be in the summer with all steel. definitely whatever you decide, plan on fully insulating the walls and roof. If insulation brings the price up comparable to block, then go block. I have a fully open ceiling with the steel roof but opted for the block walls because of termites and temperature, you are also not apple to apples with steel because of the high wind load requirements the steel has to be better braced than in the north as some have quoted price, they are more expensive down here becasue of the added wind load requirements

My experience with steel is don't skip the insulation. Worked in shops with out insulation, way hot in the summer, freezing in the cold. Mine is insulated with 1/2 foil back. I usually don't use a heater unless it is below 45 deg, them I use a space heater.
