It's time for me to seriously get busy on getting a building up on my property. Lookin at buying a 40 x 60 steel frame shop. I should say I have no building codes or restrictions where I live. I have a potential used steel building that may be available at a reasonable price. My thoughts are I would frame in the back 20' with an 8' 6" ceiling for a heated work area. above this framed area would act as a storage mezanine as well.
My main concern in regretting going for a steel building as I believe it's harder to insulate if one day down the road I would like to do so. My idea of only heating the small section of shop space is it would be easy and cheap rather to heat than the hole building.
Everything I've read says a 2x6 framed shop is always the best shop. Being a fabricator I'm not worried about working around a steel building. I like the idea of steel because I will be doing all the work myself with some help from friends. seams like it would take me ages to frame this size of building..
