I've had some spalling on the stem wall in my garage, which I'm repairing with Sikatop 123 and sealing with Dry-Lok.
My question relates to the felt stem wall expansion joint that runs between the stem wall and the garage floor.
Due to exposure to moisture, in some areas it's flaking away like cardboard, but is fine in most areas. I'm not as concerned about the appearance as I am the interference with my repairs, especially the application of the Dry-Lok.
So to any concrete repair experts, would you recommend leaving it in place and painting right over it, removing it altogether (and not worrying about replacement), or removing and replacing it?
In case it matters, my home is slab-on-grade and was built in 1995. I live in a desert climate where we don't have many sub-freezing days or nights, just scorching days.
Thanks, guys!
