Hey all
I’ve been building my custom two floor 24x26 for a while now and finally getting my doors put on next week which will be a big milestone enabling me to start thinking about finishing the interior. Note: this is an old pic as it showed the walls well. I have the electric in / approved and ceiling put up.
I have foundation / stem walls as seen in the attached pic that go pretty high, 8ft or so at the back (the ceiling is 13ft) and it cascades down around the whole interior to around 2ft at the front. I plan to diamond cup smooth the walls and paint with tinted drylock (again moisture strong) then Sheetrock above the stem walls.
I’m trying to work out a nice way to finish the stem walls, but I’m not finding a lot of inspiration on the net. I’m contemplating PVC trim (vs wood) ripped to fit on top and up the verticals due to moisture resistance and being able to color it? Has anyone done similar or used anything else? If that’s a good approach would the process be to glue it with say liquid nails and / or use a concrete trim type nail for extra strength or not necessary? Would you go concrete caulk to fill any gap between the pvc and wall then paint over?
I do not want to use the walls as shelves, I plan on putting ‘floating’ Gladiator cabinets in the back wall for storage as I want to maximize floor space.
My end goal is to have a look like the attached with Racedeck etc. which shows the type of color scheme / similar floor pattern I’m hoping to achieve.
Thanks for any help in advance! Any pics of finished walls are very appreciated.
