I just saw this on CL in North Carolina. The owner wrote he has been collecting and restoring vintage vises for well over 30 years and hasn't seen another as I recall.

I've only seen one in a vintage catalog.

She's a beauty !

AF: there might be 20 of them on the big vise thread cause several members own them and some own a few. I'd like to own one and if you can find one it's a keeper and a good addition to any bench or vise collection. i wonder if that collector is a GJ member?

ALLFAST, if you live close I would recommend a visit. I believe the seller has a **** load of very nice restored vises that he will be selling one by one. He was an active member here, but disappeared about 4 years ago.

THanks guys,

I thought there were less around. They look well made. He is in NC and I'm in CA. I believe he wants $650. I don't want one that bad !

It's nice but I'd have to have everything else on my tool list at 650. And there's about a 100 things on that list before that.

Nope, I have better things to spend money on than more stuff I won't use.

Still out there for you to find! ;)

Thanks, but I'm guessing we're probably not traveling in the same swap meet circles. Suspect you could have made a tidy profit on a flip.

The more you know...I'll keep an eye out for it in August when i go there again. There was also a Jacobson 7" swivel jaw I had my eye on that wasn't for sale, that I gather aren't too common.

I thought I should post some pics of mine as well. It works flawlessly, which is amazing for a vise nearly 150 years old!

I have one too, but with a different jaw design. Mine was built as a pattern maker's vise. It is big and heavy, and works beautifully.
