I have a 45K hanging Serling garage heater with a pilot ignition. Pilot lights and stays lit, unit fires up and fan kicks in, then about 5 minutes later, unit shuts down and pilot goes out - fan still runs. Any ideas? thaniks.
I have an old Sterling so I don't know if your's is the same, but it has a sensor on the side near the top. It detects a blocked flue and shuts the unit down. It recently shut off on a windy day and I had to reset it a few times before the wind finally died down. First time it happened in 10 years so it took me a while to figure out what was wrong.
It also could be the thermocouple that detects the flame. If it's defective, maybe it's not detecting the flame and it's shutting the gas valve off.
