I'm Steve Williams. Up here tucked away about 60 nautical miles from the Canadian border in Kalispell Montana. I've a woodworking shop that has only pre-1960 tools (excepting for my SawStop table saw). I buy 'em and restore them to new condition and then put them to work. My most recent acquisition is a 1910 Greenlee "Variety Woodworker" which purportedly is the only remaining example in existence. I put together a comprehensive story of finding it in a crate in a Buffalo grass field in the wilds of Montana but I can't post it as a thread. Rules won't allow because I'm a new member. Oh well...
Can anyone tell me how a guy can get the requisite "100 posts" in order to buy & sell? I come across a lot of great vintage stuff that quite often duplicates what I have & would like to pass it along to GJ members. I understand the problem with scammers & the rule but the 100 posts are super hard to do without violating the spirit of the good content rule as well. Thanks!

I guess I would compliment the many fine examples of...anything and everything that we see here. That is an honest way to add quick posts.

I have more questions than answers.
Hi Steve, I'm in the same part of the state, as are at least 2 members on here. Seems to me I saw a article some where about the Greenlee?? Weren't you looking for a piece of equipment for unloading and moving it?? Are you the one running the ad on the local CL for vintage tools?

Trying to help your post count....

Hi, Steve. Welcome to the forum, from another Flathead Valley resident.

When I first read your intro, I was wondering if you were the person mentioned in the article someone posted above. That was quite the project! Would indeed be interested in learning more about it.

Cheers!

The 100 post count rule was changed several months back. It now appears to be a count of 5, from the Classified Rules. . .

7. You must have a minimum post count of 5 to post threads in the classifieds. Alliance members can post no matter their post count. **Do not place a classified ad elsewhere in the forum due to not having the required post count.**

Hi Steve,
Greetings from another Kalispell resident! I live west of town, out towards Kila. I'm a tool junkie as well, however, my tastes are more for the metal working end of the spectrum. Tends to be pretty slim pickins in our area, due to the lack of manufacturing industry in the valley.

By all means, post up what you have for sale. I'd recommend you list your best deals (especially metalworking) for sale locally first! ;)

'Yep, that was me in the article. (Link is in another reply to this thread). I'm the nuisance guy that keeps a "Vintage Woodworking Tools Wanted" ad in the local C.L. We live in a very tool "un-rich" part of the country. I get many of my treasures from OWWM & use the Fastenal "3PL" freight system to get them up here. Visitors are welcome!

Steve and Jonathan - I'm out on the East coast but Kalispell, the Flathead Valley and Glacier is a top favorite location for my wife and I. Welcome to the board and I'm sure your tool collection will be welcome but don't be afraid to show any of the natural beauty that exists in your area.

Welcome to GJ Steve. I don't have a clue what you are talking about with those 1940's machines and I don't believe I have traveled to your neck of the wood. But I do like seeing restoration projects. Can't wait to see them and the fact you are passing them along to those who shared the same interest!

Funny you using nautical miles in Montana! Welcome to the GJ!

You haven't seen the size of the lake in our little valley. ..

Steve, I had previously thought it might be you (CL ad) after seeing the article. As mentioned we have precious little quality equipment come up for sale.

I don't recall how long ago I called the local Fastenal about using them for shipping. I was told that wasn't a option for our area. Good to know it is. Thanks for that tidbit.
