I found a green version of that box, but it was empty. It's fun to see what belongs in it. The slanted trays are somewhat unique. I posted photos in a S/W thread, but here it is again just for fun.

The 4060 is a nice heavy ratchet. Little less teeth but pretty rugged. Nice set!

I'm confused. It looks just like his, with the slanted socket trays. Yours looks like they sit down on flat on the bottom of the box. No?

Okay. I don't see the difference in the blue/green boxes, but do see that they have different set numbers on the label. Thank you for setting me straight.

Thanks guys.
The label refers to "Worcester, 4 Mass" so I figure its pre 1963.
I wanted to post this in the S&W thread but my searches came up dry. Do you have a link?

Here's that one. My earlier version does not have the slanted tray.

that tray in there is SO odd. only one I've ever seen like that. what's even more odd is that I never even noticed it until I was packing it up for you.

3/8 S20 (OTG's set)

3/8 M021 (@CCaillet 's set)

^ different part numbers on those. just noticed that. I never took a shot of the interior of the box, only the outside, but I recall noticing that tilted tray inside the box and thinking "Oh wow! How did I not see that before?" - it is odd.

main Walden thread here

There are actually two "main" Walden threads. Both are listed in the Index.

(Just one of those things that used to happen more often and has calmed down since the Index. But when I created it, if there was more than one major thread on the same topic, with multiple pages of activity, I did not want to be responsible for favoring one over the other, so I listed them both. Not too many instances, but a few, and Walden is one of them.)

The one you linked was created by Don in June 2018 and now has 13 pages.

This one...
...was actually created first, in February 2018, and has 14 pages.

Ironically, the second one is the thread where @Arne73 re-posted his set originally back in 2020, when this thread was created, and I think that is the thread where these funky tray boxes have been discussed. I could be wrong.

In general, I try to post wrenches and other tools to the Old Walden thread and midget stuff to Don's thread. But there is really no good way to control what goes in which thread at this late date.

We can ask to join/unite/merge them (I think it does it by date and time to keep discussions in each thread fluid).

Picked this up this weekend. 3/8PM21 looks like a smaller version of the 3/8M021 I found 2 weeks ago.

^ The 3/8PM21 is a 1/4" and 3/8" drive set that uses a goofy female-to-female "connector" and includes a male-to-male extension, as well as a 5/16" hex key for which no one has yet been able to determine a purpose.
Below is a photo of one of mine:

Thanks!
I didn't know mine had the yellow description card under the foam until I saw your picture.
Here's mine with the foam removed.

That was a popular set for Walden. I’ve found several at sales.IMG_2085.jpegIMG_2084.jpeg

Don - I didn't know the foam is original. I thought the PO put it there. My 3/8M021 didn't have the foam.
Any significance to the spinner handle color? You have 2 red and a green and mine is yellow (amber).

^ Walden used different colors on their spinner handles. You can find them in yellow, red, green, and blue. Your "fat shaft" spinner handle is the odd duck - like the one in mine I posted above. Note the examples that Don posted have the standard diameter shaft on the spinner handle.
Yes, that ugly green "egg carton" foam is original. Even when the set is NOS (new old stock) and the tools have never been used, that green foam pad still looks ratty.

Thanks for pointing out the "fat shaft"! I didn't notice it.
I cleaned it up a bit - It says SPINTITE WALDEN and a part number.
