So replaced the carb on my 17 yo Sthil 025 chainsaw, new plug and aftermarket coil (cuz I had them), set gaps, new filters, etc., and DEEP cleaned it...like toothpick and Q-tip clean. (okay, a bit OCD but it had never been thoroughly been gone into). Get it all back together, fire it up...runs like a scalded dog! Big smile. Flip it to off, and "off" ain't happening. Hmmm, hasn't done this before. So how do you stop a saw without a stop? You choke it out!
So I pull the back shroud to check the spring-arm contact with the kill wire terminal. Check! I pull the side cover and check continuity from the grounding bolt on the block all the way over to the spring-arm contact with the kill wire terminal, Check. Then I check continuity from the switch to the kill wire connection to the new coil. Check.
I think the kill wire terminal in the coil is bad/dead/not connected.
How 'bout you?
If not, then what?
Thanks.

, but it's fixed now. The OEM coil had a chassis ground wire built-in with the eye end attaching to the cylinder with the other ground which runs to the kill switch. After all the cleaning, etc, and putting the saw together the next day, when I picked-up the new coil, I simply didn't notice there was no chassis ground...out-of-sight, out-of-mind. So, the new coil wasn't grounded at all (the mounting pillars are resin/plastic).
