Re: Stick built 80’x45’ new shop build

Sorry for the huge delay with updates, got a little busy with landscaping and working on doing the basement rec room and life in general. Here’s a couple updates so far. The garage doors were installed as was all the exterior stone work. The man doors are still the construction doors but the new ones showed up just need to install them. We got it all wired and it passed inspection, so I moved on to insulating and vapor barrier. It’s getting a little chilly in there working on it at night. My next step is to get my HVAC contractor back for the boiler install. Hopefully continue with getting the finish walls and ceiling installed.

Absolutely stunning building as well as the property, nicely done! And the rides are just as cool. They all run?

Wow!
Very nice build / property.
I like the overhang you have over the garage doors. That is a nice feature IMO.
I see a couple of Pontiacs in there. You must have some history with Pontiac cars?
Considering you went from construction to full garage, I assume you were storing cars elsewhere before the garage? If so, will be nice to be able to walk across the driveway now to see / use them.

Thank you!! My thoughts on the overhang was to able to use the space either if it was raining or if you wanted to work on something outside but get out if the sun. I put ceiling fan box’s up under the overhang also, but haven’t picked out ceiling fans yet. If the bugs are bad just crank up the fans. We have a attached 20”x20” covered porch on the house which we use all the time, which is where I got the idea for the overhang on the shop.
As far as the Pontiac’s go I do love them but currently only have one. I have a soft spot for GTOs but as you can seen I’m all over the map as far as what kind of cars I like. I appreciate all makes but love the Pontiac and Mopar muscle cars but love the early Fords also. Yes before this space I had cars all over the place, I still have a few more projects and my place of work that will be brought home when the shop is finished.
Here’s a picture from on the roof of the shop you can see the covered porch.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done any updates. I took a break from the shop over winter and was finishing off the entire basement. I’ve also been landscaping off and on all summer, but Ifinally got the cement poured between the shop and house. I was so sick of dealing with gravel. The boys were hustling, they put down 60 yds in one day in three separate pours.
After that I was able to get some back filling done and got some planters installed.
I’m hoping to get back to the inside of the shop this fall.

Finally will have heat this winter!!!
I got some of the wall trim up, I still have to run base mouldings. I also bought all the steel for the ceilings while it was on sale at Menards. My carpenter buddy came and installed the detail beams on the outside peaks. It's slowly getting there.

Looks like the inside is nearing completion.
Will this be only for storage or will you work on cars in it too?

I have one side walled off for work shop area. I put cathedral ceilings on that side to accommodate a two post lift. I have the exhaust fan in the wall and the air compressor is on the way also.

I’ve got a few more things done in the shop. I got my shop side of the building insulated with R38 which made a huge difference. I still have to put up the vapor barrier. I also got the compressor up and running. I also put a couple of my pumps outside for night lights.

Great build thread! I really like your shop and how it fits in well with your home and land - nice job!

I am wondering about your air-compressor and how you plan to run your air lines. I was advised to NOT run mine inside the finished walls, so they haven't been installed yet - perhaps this winter.

What is your plan with your air lines?

I ran all 3/4 copper in the wall thru out the the shop, I’m not sure why running it in the wall is different that mounted on the wall.
