Well the time has come for me to move on up from "Flux Core" to Stick welding. I have been to my local pawn shops but nothing is available. I am looking for a DC.
My budget is in the $300 range.
Longevity has the model 140 at Home Depo for $275.
AHP Alpha 160 for $240. Both of these are DC The Home Depo has a 1 year warranty.Anyway has anyone worked with these? I will be using for building a trailer to haul my Polaris 4 wheeler and firewood ext. Both are 110/220V .The only bad thing is there is close to a 60 day waiting period for the AHP model.I do not have that much patience. Thanks, Ken

I've got a Longevity stickweld 250, haven't used their smaller one. In interest of full disclosure, it was given to me no charge by the owner of the company

My first one had some issues, but they took care of it. It welds beautifully. Really a nice machine to run. Small and portable too. Very happy with it.
That said if it was my money, I'd probably buy a transformer machine, probably a miller acdc thunderbolt, Hobart equivalent, or more likely a Lincoln idealarc 250/miller dialarc 250. I have no complaints whatsoever about the inverter unit, best machine I've ever ran.
I just can't help but think it won't survive nearly half as long as a machine with the old technology....

I love my Longevity and would definitely recommend one, but that said I still wouldn't buy one myself. I've caught myself looking at the new esab rebel, but I think the next machine I buy will be an old round top idealarc 250

First off thanks for the replies. Longevity and Everlast come off the same boat if you get my drift. Boat Drift, I mad a funny.Anyway I may even sink down to the Harbor freight level.Plenty of satisfied owners there.Ken
