I have a Matco Tool Box for sale or trade asking 2500 or comprable trade. I paid 7300 for the box brand new. The tool box is an 8525 series 2bay tool box, yellow and balck. Minor knicks on drawers from use at my place of employment.

Giving the guy posting the ad a little slack because he a fellow motorcyclist....that box looks like a piece of yellow poo with those stickers. I guess I'm a plain Jane box guy. The only stickers/decals I think should go on a box is on the inside of the top lid if it has one. Other than that....less is more IMO.

this is for the tool dealers: which one has the higher resale value? 2 identical boxes same condition, with stickers or without?

If someone cares about resale value then they should not add stickers or just have a big supply of Goo Gone on hand. If they don't care about resale then it's just individualism and really no ones business but their own.

agreed. hint the guy is selling it.

I have stickers on my beater box, 'cause the stickers would have costed more than the box.

nothing on my Matco box and cart.

the only stickers i would attach to it are the brand of its self nothing else. so if it is a snap on toolbox it only gets certain snap on stickers that fit the design and colors.

the only other stickers i would attach would be my name on the bottom drawer like my dad did on his box. makes it look very eye catching

I'm not a fan of stickers all over boxes, but when somebody just wallpapers a nice roll cab like that with free advertising, I think it looks like ****.

If I was considering buying that box, I'd figure my sticker removal time is worth $100/hr (because I HATE peeling damn stickers off) and that's about six hours work time you get all the left over adhesive off. SO there's $600 right off the top :D

I have a small sticker on my 40" top box only because there's a tiny paint chip by the spot weld.

I have absolutely no problem putting stickers on my boxes because I will never sell them. Then again, I have never paid anywhere near SEVEN THOUSAND AND THREE HUNDRED dollars for a toolbox and I never will. I guess he never thought he would sell the box, but here we are. He should have at least tried to peel some off before he put it up for sale.
Now, if it was a vintage box with vintage hot rod stickers, then I would say that they ADD to the value of the box.

Use a hair drier remove all the stickers; goof off will get the adhesive off quick!

If you can see the outlines of the stickers and the color is faded/oxidized; use fine compound buff out and finish off with wax... your done!

One, we've had this discussion several times before to no conclusion.

You're both correct, but I'm with Zrexxer; if the seller wants my money, he does the labor or takes it off the price for his decision to **** it up.

thnx, jack vines

I have some of the snap on sticks on my snap on box like "I make my living with snap on tools please don't ask to borrow them" and "snap on dream builder" Other then that I have a V8 decal of a truck beside the snap on logo since every one I know asked me how big the motor was in it.

I don't like that one, Just to many junky stickers on it.

I don't mind stickers but I always take them off before I sell a toolbox, I could have all those sticker off that box in less than half an hour with a heat gun and lighter fluid. I'd prefer to buy a box with out them because you never know whats underneath them, may have started out covering up a gouge.

I just bought a couple boxes and tools from a guy who had a bunch of stickers all over them. First thing I did was take a heat gun to them and remove them. No stickers on my tool boxes or cars /truck. Stickers belong on race cars / bikes, IMO. No big deal to remove them from a used box.

My 3 boxes and 2 carts are decorated with automotive and race related stickers I've picked up at Detroit Autorama, (this weekend!), over the years. The only exceptions are the Army units my son & I were in. Can't do any more, outta room. If I were a pro and my stuff was in a shop, I'd be a little more discreet, but since they're in my basement or garage, who cares?

Well, if it was THAT big of a deal, the stickers could be pulled and the box could be repainted easily enough. It's just sanding time and then spraying time... Been done here before a few times over. Everyone loves a freshly painted something.

The last large box I bought came with free transformers and other assorted kids stickers all over, the cheap papery kind that are a SOB to remove. appearently he didnt care that his kids desecrated a several thousand dollar box. I had 2 hours in removal and polish time. Center box, I left the moroso sticker on the bottom right. Not too bad for $750 Otherwise I wouldnt have walked near a box with that many stickers.

Thank god I have a buddy in the paint and bodyshop business that had one of the sticker removal grinders

You talking about that rubber wheelie thing that is on a die grinder tool? Yeah, those do work really well. I have used them on my own cars and trucks when I was prepping them for paint.

Removing the stripes on the side of my Ranger was a *****... WOOF.

Soak the "cheap papery kind" with lighter fluid (naptha) and they'll come right off.

My old box was covered with stickers but now I can't stand the look of it and I only have 3 on my new one. 2 of the brand name and 1 is my car club logo and thats it.
