I got a nice Kobalt USA impact socket set from Cripe today. On opening, it appears to be coated in some sort of sticky assembly oil. I was thinking about using Simple Green. Anything better that you guys know to cleam them with?

Leave it, it will keep them from rusting. Otherwise, dunk them in gas, kerosene, or blast them with brake cleaner or WD40.

I have the same set from Cripe, so I know what you are talking about. I sprayed them off with brake clean, then wiped them back down with WD-40. The oil is there to prevent them from rusting during shipping/storage.
