Apparently not!
One of my patients had built one many years ago. It was sitting in his garage and I saw it and he fired it up for me. It was really cool to see it work. Built from parts he found at work, the fly wheel was a large valve wheel. Wish I still had pics of it.

I ordered one of these kits for Christmas Sterling helicopter to do as a project together with my 6 year old son. We will see the quality of the kit once it arrives. I figure it will either be a slam dunk and pique his curiosity or it will be a total dud and he will have no interest. We will see.

My Dad bought some plans for a "hot air" (sterling) engine to be built from "tin cans" it was some fideling to get it to run but it did! And he then set about to "experiment" and ended up making about 10 of them with one from his own patterns [he had it cast in aluminum]. I may may be able to find a few pictures I think. Unfortunately all of those engines are gone now [sold off], I may be able to help with some of your questions along your adventure. Just let me know. Harry
