I just won a used pelican 0450 case on ebay. I am looking to stock it with an assortment of tools to deal with service at friends' houses, junkyard runs, and roadside rescues. I'm gonna throw in the following:

some old craftsman screwdrivers
Gearwrench non ratcheting wrench sets 10-19mm and 1/2" to 1"
pieced together socket sets from garage sale finds 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2"(mostly craftsman)
Some extensions and u joints
a speed wrench
a couple of breaker bars
a couple of ratchets
A couple of adjustable wrenches
a couple different types of pliers
hacksaw and blades
torx and allen keys
terminal brush and terminal grease (I've rescued more stranded motorists with this than any other tool besides jumper cables)
various hose clamps
a hammer (for stress relief)
multimeter
gloves
safety glasses
magnetic pickup tool
pry bar
assorted punches and chisels
some files and handles

Add to my list your ideas!

Decent tools list; how about Duct tape, Electrical tape, Ty-Wraps, JB weld, and a tube of (tapped up) alum-a-seal Tire puncture repair plugs (for when you manage to kill 2 tires...) and of course a 12V inflator capability of actually pumping up a flat.

A small roll of hook up wire and Ether starting spray.

Gloves = ? (Latex/nitril, leather & cotton work gloves)

If this is your "breakdown box", for that vehicle: a set of used but still good spark plugs, dist cap and rotor, and a radiator cap

Partial rolls of TP and paper towels.

Long piece (36-48") of automotive power wire, of a suitably large gauge, both ends bare. (Jumper wire). I've "boosted" many power trunk releases from a live dome light to access keys. Can also be used on mechanical diesels to put power to the glow plugs when the plug controller has failed, allowing it to start (GM 6.2s and a diesel 350 once).

Murph. I had another one...

Great suggestions people! I'm also going to put down

flashlight (duh!)
utility knife
instead of hose clamps, a clamptite and wire
inspection mirror
safety glasses
gojo in a small bottle
a magnetic tool bar along one of the tray edges to grab loose fasteners
a mini IR thermometer

Thanks again. Pics to come. Lets see if I can stuff it all!
