Here, we had to pay for the stone up front too... Slab providers are different from the guys doing the fabrication / install. I get not wanting to work with a contractor that can't carry the slab cost, but in this case that seems like a good way to end up with slabs when customers change their minds.

I fully appreciate down payments for work. I'd also offer to pay cash on day of install as a "counter" offer... Ba dum tish.

My problem is giving a guy money that I don't have any way to trust. Either way, my money is not on the line here.

Got the countertops installed last night. They put the seam where the faucet sits. $33/sq ft for template, fabrication and installation. The guys did a great job.
