Stone veneer or other options?

I'm in the middle of a pump house build. I'm considering adding 3'~ decretive stone around the outside walls. Did a search here and saw some nice work. What are my options and the +/- of each ( Faux panels, premade real stone or other)?

I don't want to become a stone mason or hire one so ease of install is a factor. I thought a 3'~ tall run around a small 6X8 building would be a good first timer fun project and not be too expensive. Stone products seem to change yearly for cost/install so I'm wondering what is the latest and greatest.

Thanks in advance!

I can tell you installing stone such as shown in the video without motor joints, is a lot easier than installing say river rock where you have to grout it. Make sure you a support ledge under any stone/brick etc…, and flash on the top.

Depending on the weight of the stone veneer you choose and the winter climate in your area, I don't know that I would trust adhesive for larger pieces. I have installed quite a bit of El Dorado brand on my home but it is set with mortar and grouted. Some of the big pieces of my limestone pattern weigh probably 5-10 pounds.

There are some faux stone look foam/eps panels now that you can simply stick to the wall with adhesive. Has anyone tried them? I'm considering using them on my house but I'd like to hear about their longevity.

I've been looking into this for my garage, and then house after. Versetta has been where I'm leaning due to the way it's fastened to the wall. Glue on I don't think would work with the outside Tyvek wrap, and the stainless nail on ones scare me with any kind of trapped freezing moisture or kids hitting it in the summer months. I'm in Calgary Alberta, so changing weather is definitely a factor.

Of the veneer options I researched, Versetta Stone is my pick should I decide to swallow that pill. It's not cheap.

I liked the way it attaches to the wall and the way the bottom stone fits into the grove if the one below it, making it secure to the substrate.

I watched Kyle on RR Buildings youtube install it and feel like it's a doable project that will net nice results.

The project I was eyeballing was to line the walls behind the wood stove instead of the bland wall.

It sort depends on the look you want. Anything with a mortar joint look will require mortar. If you are ok with ledge/square/dry stack look there are other options.

We used Boral brand it’s a cultured stone in echo ridge ledgestone. Butter the back and slap it on. Wasn’t a fan of the ones with the mesh on the back . Don’t get hung up on who does the most advertising.
