Stone Wheel?

I am trying to teach myself the art of auto body repair and have been making pretty good progress.

I've been able to locate just about everything I need except for what I often see referred to as a "stone wheel" or "grinding wheel". Maybe I'm searching by the wrong name. ???

I've checked the few sources I know (eastwood, amazon, HF, etc.).

Anyone have a good source for these?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked your local auto supply store? HD may have them.

No, I haven't. I work from home on a computer, so I tend to order most of my stuff online.

I like flap wheels better for most weld grinding anyhow...

I like flap wheels as well, but I think these might allow me to be a little more precise with my grinding.

Sorry for my ignorance, most of my experience comes from playing with wood.

go to a Paint & Body supply store, what your looking for are the 3M Green Disc's...they come in multiple thicknesses & abrasiveness to suit what your grinding.

Cool, but I think that's a little different from what I'm after.

Not really after the sanding discs, I'm after the grinding wheels.

Go to a welding supply house and buy some 3" or 4" zip wheels in various thickness and you are good to go.Not a specialized wheel at all.You will also need the mandrel.

Mine is a stone wheel, maybe 1/4" thick. It is made by 3M, called the green ?????. You can put it directly on a weld and not the metal on either side and grind only the weld. I got mine at an auto body store.

i'm pretty sure that you're looking for the 3M Green Corps's Grinding Disc's..

you can get them at any auto-body paint store..

go to PPG's website and do a search for a auto-paint supplier near you..they'll have them

I have these and they work great. I have the smaller Roloc ones for my angle die grinder and they do a nice job.

I go mine at the local auto body/paint supplier.
