Stopping pictures when posting product links

I've got a question about linking. Sometimes it's nice to post a link with some info like:
This air compressor is a 5hp model you should look at

Sometimes a simple link without the picture is easier to read around
This air compressor is a 5hp model you should look at

Is there a way to prevent the ad version this when you really just want the link, not the picture etc?
