I need to finally break down and buy something to organize all my small parts. I'm looking at a Quantum Storage bin like pictured below. It's about $300. Seems like a lot of money for some plastic and a cheap stamped metal shelf. However, I looked on HF and they don't have much that looks interesting. Any other suggestions?

They are worth the money!! I use 2 sets of em as my bolt and hardware bins. 5yrs and still good. Handy to be able to take the whole bin with you to your project vs the fixed style.

I have basically the same thing and they stack. I got rid of the flimsy shelf and made a HD one. One of the best things I've done!

i took a different route for nut and bolt organization. i bought a hf 13 drawer bottom chest and used it for nut and bolt organization. i cut the bottom 2" off 1 quart oil containers to make bins to hold different size this or that. open one drawer and there are a bunch of fasteners rather than pulling out one bin at a time. also it tucks under my workbench rather than taking up wall space. also fairly dust free in closed drawers rather than open bins.

You can buy louvered panels and hang bins on the wall behind the workbench, on the side of a cabinet or directly on the wall. You can get bench top racks that you can bolt down. They won't hold as much weight as the shelf system cause there's no shelf. Unless your buying bolts in bolts in boxes of a hundred the louvered panels work great. Check them out here.

I just bought a barrel of the bins from Uline. I really like them (Akron Mills is probably the best known brand...I think they are also American made).

I already had the shelf (found it on CL, made just for parts bins), so I just bought the bins. If not, I would have bought the whole set like your picture.

The parts bins were a pretty penny, but wait till you see the shipping! I'd try to find the heavy duty parts bins at a local place, if possible. Taxes couldn't possibly as steep as shipping was.

Overall, though, I love the heavy-duty parts bins. I think they are great for parts storage (not for tools storage at all).

Go for it...you won't regret it.
