Storage boxes for screws

I have looked all over ebay and Amazon, and here. I've had little luck finding a storage box that meets all of my needs. So I'm hoping to get some ideas that I've missed.

These are about the closest I have gotten, though, I'm not crazy about the colors, and the wastefulness of the freezer packs.
Kid's Lunch Cups
My wife bought some of these a while back and retired them to my shop, and they are great quality and very heavy duty. One of these 2 cup containers will hold 3lbs of screws.

My criteria:
Individual containers
Heavy duty
Lid
Transparent/semi transparent
Stackable
Large enough to hold 2-5lbs of screws
Affordable
Something that I don't have to eat or drink 30 of (insert food here)
NO GLASS!

Thanks. Are they really thin plastic, like the ziplock reusable/disposables? That's pretty cheap for 17 pieces. I will be checking out Ikea's website. I didn't even think about them.

Haha! The second to last one got me... My grandpa gave me a couple dozen matching thick plastic pickle jars that are perfect for screws. He had at least 75 more empty ones waiting for use..

Each bin can be removed and carried to where ever.
I have one with everything 1/4-20, one with varying lengths of drywall screws, one with nails, one for sheet metal screws/wood screws,...

Don't get anything with movable "dividers", stuff can work it's way under them and mix together.

Square Costco Mixed Nut containers work well for 2-3 lbs of screws. I can usually grab a couple every time I dump my plastic recycling...they seem to float to the top of the bin. (Neighbors save them for me, too.)

You might be better off with the hinged plastic boxes with the see-thru cover. Much heavier duty imo, can carry them like a briefcase, some people on here have built beautiful storage racks for them.

Here we go. This is getting where I need to go. When I was working for a electrical contractor on my days off, lots of our materials came in these types of containers. i got tired of five gallon buckets of hardware i never use, so i threw everything away and just keep what i actual use every day.
bought some of those plastic storage, an suitcase, all i can think to call them, from the big box store, dewalt milalkee has them.

but know they are pretty heavy, but if i had individual plastic contaners i would need a five gallon bucket to keep them in.

Well they are individual containers that fit into a case that has a lid, so there's that...
They are very popular for storage with similar name brand cases selling for 2x3 the money.
The only negative I have found after a couple of years of use is the LIDS only open 90 degrees.

still doesn't satisfy your last requirement because that would be a lot of peanuts to get 30 of them.

And thank you for the suggestion. They are indeed a good solution for many occasions. In fact, I use smaller versions them for my small machine screws and small engine carb parts, and job site screw boxes with small quantities of randomness.
For this situation, I want to have them in a cabinet labeled and stacked, ready to grab exactly what I need for the project at hand. For example, let's say I'm working on expanding my chicken coop out back, and the will only be using one, maybe two sizes of screws, but a lot of them. I'd rather grab one or two containers with firm fitting lids, that I can transport without fear of dropping a mini screw bomb. As well as to be able to reach in without looking and grab a hand full, without concern of grabbing the wrong ones, cross contamnation of sizes, etc. Make sense? I know, I'm weird like that, but ive learned over the years that my legit ADD is so much more manageable if I do things a certain way.

You could even buy different color lids to color code the different types of fasteners. And the canister+lid comes out cheaper than buying the jar of Mayo.

I did the individual tupperware route for a while. Even thick ones, I cracked or dropped and screws went everywhere. I also ended up stacking them 2-3 deep and could never find them. I'm in the process of pitching them all and going to a rack of the HF storage boxes. I just wish the large and small sizes would go on sale. The medium ones seem to go on sale regularly, but the large one never seems to be on sale.

Those look a little big for what I need, but I do like that size container for bigger stuff. I'm going to look through Ikea's site a little more for something similar in a smaller size.

I'm heavily leaning towards the ULine style screw top jars. Now I just need to find where I can buy small quantities (less than 50), and not get gouged on shipping. I was getting ready to order ULine's minimum of 24 16oz, and 12 32oz containers, until they hit me with $20 shipping. 36 containers for $71 makes them less desirable. I get their motive to sell hundreds at a time, but not to me. Back to searching..... I'll find something, eventually.

This site has just about every variation of containers you could imagine. Generally their prices are really good also, although occasionally you can find them cheaper elsewhere. I almost always start here when looking for a storage container of some sort. I don't always end up buying the item there though.

The reason I build a lot of 4"/6" deep shelves, I hate digging out something hidden in the back on a deep shelf.

I stack those HF storage boxes with the side showing/not the handle, and mark what's in them with a sliver sharpie.

I hear you on that never on sale... I take my wife-give her a 20% off coupon and we both buy what's never on sale.

Might find an appropriately sized jar at the Dollar Store... Nothing says you have to eat your weight in mayonnaise or pickles. Buy them strictly for the container (at a ~buck each...) and dump the food. No shipping costs...
