Hobbit - Looks great and nice price, but 7-7/8" depth isn't going to cut it for me.

MagicMarker - Agreed at $99 and 12" deep that works. At the current price of $149 I'll keep looking. Is there a reason for the space between the cabinets?

I didn't have enough Gear Track so I stud mounted them. I'll eventually buy more track and reinstall... but no rush at the moment.

After looking at way too many workbench options and prices it's a natural progression to take a second look at the HF tool box that I want anyway and conclude that it would make a nifty set of drawers for a space challenged workshop. Then today I see this thread: Steevo's HF Toolboxes Workbench - Phase 3. I may have to join the chorus of GJ members who have done some remarkably cost effective designs with these.

I guess I should have explained that the cabinets are made of half inch ply board, the face frames and doors are melamine. There is a 2x12 lying flat that runs along the front edge under the bench top which is what the small drill press and vise are bolted to. I did add onto the shop so now they live on a different wall. The first picture is from the same spot as the one in my previous post.

Great job!

waitaminute. I see tablesaws in the 'mess' pix. Why isn't the OP whipping out some cabinets out of plywood? Get a heck of a lot more storage volume for the money. Real easy to whip out some 3'Tx3'Wx1'D double door cabinets out of plywood sheets in a hurry. ~$25-30 per cabinet and a day's work for it all.
Hang them with a french cleat and it's even easier.

eta Slednut totally beat me to that lol

Does any one have a set of plans to build cabinets? I have access to a bunch of 1"x2" Hardwood that would work for frames and then use plywood for doors and OSB for shelves.
