Is there a good way to calculate the amount of weight this loft will hold? It has been lagged into the walls and ceiling. Garage is about 23 ft wide.

Since you can stand on it, I would say it will hold about as much as you can fling up there. :) But it looks pretty well built.

I would say quite a hefty load if you keep it more so towards the back along the cleats that you have on the wall, that part will be super strong. If you're really planning on loading it up you may put a couple vertical posts from the horizontal stud of the loft through the ceiling to a couple horizontal studs in the rafters that you could tie together. However that could be overkill depending what you are storing up there. As for numbers you would probably need more info like the size/number of lag bolts/grade of material etc.

Used 2 x 4s, 1/2" sheeting for loft, using drywall/deck screws to assemble. Used 5/16" lags into every other 16" O.C. studs. Also lagged cleats @ 16" O.C. Ceiling 2 x 4 was lagged @ 24"? O.C. then I dropped a couple of supports where each 8 ft section mated together, with a single support in the middle of each section. Lagged them to the loft and to the ceiling cleat.

The reason for my concern is that I have a couple of spots (approx. 8 ft from each end) where it looks like a small gap (maybe 1/8"?) is occurring between the ceiling cleat and the ceiling. I am getting ready to put about 1000 lbs up there and want to make sure it stays...
