Curious what other people do to store their cherry picker and engine stand. I have both and wish they did not take up floor space in the garage since they don't get used very much. I folded up the cherry picker and put it against the wall and took the stand apart and shoved it under a bench but thought maybe someone got creative with tucking it away in a better way. I was thinking maybe a shed outside but I rather keep everything inside.

Dude, I feel your pain. With a modestly sized barn, I can't have those occasionally used behemoths taking up space. I have them in a second, older barn across the yard. Not ideal, but the best I have to work with.

Can you unbolt most of the cherry picker? if you can --you can make brackets [good ones] and hang the parts on a wall. :bounce:

It is a liitle effort to put back together but to clear up floor space it is worth it!

I have an older cherry picker that does not fold up. to store it I have tiped it on its **** as it takes a little less space. at one time even took it apart and slid the base under a project car with the other pieces as well.

right now I have put a piece of plywood on the platfform and use it to store some heavy stuff that I want to keep mobile.

the engine stand comes apart and goes in the rafters

I put in an "I" beam for just this reason. Doesn't waste any valuable floor space at all. The engine stand - I'm still working on it!!! ;-) I always seem to have an engine on it - so that's not nearly as bad.

I have a storage area in my shop above the bathroom, I put the cherry picker up there with the forklift to get it out of the way.

If you can't do something like that, how about a cable system to pull it up into the attic?

I used to hang my engine stand against the wall high up, so the wheels sat against the wall and the upright ran along the roof. To be safe I strapped it too the roof so just in case the wall hooks ever pulled out of the cinder blocks.

Mine folds up, but not that nice. Do you have anymore info? How old, model, where did you get it?

Thanks.

"Bluebird" is a rental Equipment/tool maker for Rental stores. USA made. The storage cart is an accessory. The hoist is called a Bluebird KD or knock down crane. I also put my Bluebird 1000lb engine stand in the mix to get it out of the way. Here is a normal picture of a BB hoist on the cart.

I have an older cherry picker that does not fold up...
I have an older one too. I cut about 2' off of the outer front legs and bought longer peices of square metal tubing for the "telescoping" inner front legs. I welded mounts on the rear of the base peice to mount the removable front legs. When put away, the "boom" is fully lowereed (not as seen on the photos). It helps but it's still a pain in the **** to store.

Mine is a fold-up, but still takes up a reasonable amount of space. I have found however, that I use it often enough that it's becoming a hassle to fold it up! Now that I'm nearing 50, I use it to lift anything that's more than 50lbs!

My stand breaks down and I hang the pieces on the wall. The hoist folds up - I pull out the extension arm and hand it from the handles in the back by the hook - takes a few inches off the front. It parks in a 33" square.

I lent my hoist to a neighbor and they moved, with it!
Now I'm borrowing a friends and getting use out of it, hoping one day he'll want it back.

I take the boom and column off of mine and stand the whole mess in a corner. It actually takes up less space than a "folding" crane, and only takes about 5 minutes to disassemble/assemble it.
