Storage Ideas - Loose wire and hose

Looking for ideas from the masters.

I'm finally moving all of my stuff into the new garage and can't figure out what to do with my misc loose wire and hoses. I've got 2 medium sized boxes full of hose and wire. Anything from 3' to 15' lengths. Various sizes, colors, and types.

In the old garage I just hung it off a large hook (one hook for hose, another for wire). But it looked ugly, it was difficult to get at, and was prone to having pieces fall on the floor.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I toss that stuff cause it is like a cancer however if you must, buy a couple banker's boxes. Label one wire and one hoses and stick them up on the shelf.

Lol! I have a box of wire like that! Except mine is a box from a 20" TV. I got sick of it being a tangled mess so I sorted out the useful stuff and coiled it up and secured it with zip ties. Now I still have to dig through it to find what I want but at least it's not a giant tangled ball anymore.

Hose I do the same to except I keep it in a med sized plastic tote.

Looks exactly like some of my boxes of random wire and cable. I have salvaged automotive wiring harnesses crammed into boxes and buckets, there's really nothing else to do with them. To make life a bit easier I put some of the wire into individual bags, then the bags go in a tote or bucket. The bags keep the wire from becoming a ***********. Some of them, like the wiring harnesses, are a lost cause. The only way to sort through the mess is to dump it out onto the floor first.

I have a big round bin that I store that kind of stuff in. When it gets full, I toss the contents into a bigger bin. I then pay a company to come around once a week and empty the big green into their truck where they haul the stuff off to the country and bury it for me.

It works VERY well.

I have alot of wire and cable too and all I do is coil it up with electrical tape and seperate it into different boxes according to type (Power, A/V, USB, etc). Same thing for hoses too!

i have a couple of plastic storage totes up on a shelf.

we sometimes replace complete wiring harnesses (const eq)
usually lots of good wire, (and a few really bad ones), color coded and numbered, sealed connectors in all different configurations, complete with fuse blocks, relays and fuses.

Bankers boxes is exactly what I use! I only save rolls of wire and specialty wire pieces (oddball, hard to find types of stuff). I also have more relays than I know what to do with! I have no idea how I ended up with so many (over 50), I don't use them that often, so why did I save them? OK, I'm just a pack rat I guess! :dunno:
