Storage locker for chemicals?

I have a plastic Sterlite locker with shelves that is packed full of various paint and chemical spray cans. But the shelves are sagging severely.

I'm looking for basically the same thing but made out of metal. Where would I find such a thing? 26" width is what have to work with. Up to 24" deep, 18 would be better. No limit on height.

Or maybe just open shelves would be okay? Although it won't look as slick.

I'm not too keen on industrial yellow and don't really need flame proofing. I like this one, but buying direct from Uline plus truck freight will likely be very expensive.

If you have a home depot nearby, Husky has several different models of all-metal standing cabinets. If they don't have your size in stock, you usually can order anything from their website for free in-store pickup

Husky looks good and free pick up as mentioned. The tall cabinet is 30.5" wide and I think I can just make that work if I shuffle some stuff around.

You could probably get some pieces of 1x2 or 2x2 lumber and screw them to the bottoms of the shelves in your existing cabinet to reinforce them so they don't sag.

You might check out any commercial office furniture supply stores that specialize in used furniture.

I see all sorts of those style cabinets (but the quality ones which cost stupid $ from Steelcase) get hauled off at work to be recycled.

For what it's worth, I've had one of the Huskys for 5+ years. Bottom shelves have 5qt jugs of oil, gallon jugs of coolant. Mid and top shelves are loaded with spray paint, gallon jugs of solvents, gallon jugs of epoxy, body filler, etc.

Try a used office furniture place. A significant part of my shop cabinets came from old cubicles n file farms.

Check out auctions for used flammable cabinets. They will still be expensive but they do double duty as something that not only stores stuff behind doors and away from prying eye/hands but also delays fire issues should things get out of hand near your flammables.

They do come in different colors but you can also just paint it any color you want.

Lot of my storage are metal cabinets from industrial auctions where the office and operations areas are also being cleaned out. Had a grouping of five of them with some real quality ones and a few that were lighter sheetmetal. I was kind of leery of those as much lighter to move and load. But now use one of those with two shelves for gallon jugs of oil and other lubricants and will say that sitting on its base and the back screwed to the wall 1/2 dozen spots that stiffens it up considerably.

Been trying to score one of those flammable storage container ones at auction too but they always go for $200-$300 bucks on up. But think the well known commercial brand ones are pushing a grand new so guess it is what it is. These would be wider/bigger than the OP has space for though. But most of those style are wider than being tall.

As someone else mentioned. The narrow 15"? file folder cabinets stacked 4 high are everywhere and sold cheap at business closeouts.

I have 3 of the Husky Cabinets. I had to reorder one because it was damaged in shipping, but the store took care of it easily. The only complaint I have is the protective wrap is time consuming to remove.
Leave all the screws lose until all the back panels are on and be sure to square the cabinet before tightening. Also, the cabinet must be level front to back and side to side for the doors to close correctly. They have adjustable feet for this adjustment.

Some of the shops at work I'd love to own... well till I got the heat and tax bills.

One is big enough to put 3 semis and trailers end to end with 15-20ft between each. 4 bays like that.

They'll be working on a D10N or Euclid B70 and it seems small in there.

Look for used industrial cabinets on Offer Up or CL or FB or what not. People often want these things gone and they can go pretty cheap. You can usually get keys or have them rekeyed relatively cheaply too, if you need it to be lockable.

Flammables cabinets also contain leaks up to their rated volume. A locker, filing cabinet, etc. do not.

I've had good luck buying used or scratch-and-dent new flammables cabinets from local industrial auctions for cheap. If you don't like the yellow paint, you certainly could repaint it.

Did this before with automotive paint and primer and you had to hold your breath when you opened the door. The flammable storage cabinets aren't air tight and let any fumes out, fridges are fairly air tight and don't.

I use gym lockers. Each cube is about 14x12 inch I think. You can find them all over marketplace, and they're awesome for separating and organizing.

It won't be just used for chemicals and I have no expectations of it being "fire proof", but I will be buying a US General side locker to be used with my US General 42" box.
