I'd like something like this with bins:

https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200660348_200660348

Something like this is more on track at 72 inches....but the shipping kind of kills it.

It just seems pricey for such low height and double shelving is a waste for me.

I want it to be a bit taller so I am not wasting valuable space. I don't think that I want to spend more than 200 bucks. I have bolts, screws, nuts, and hardware over the place and in an old tool chest. Every time I put my hand in there it is like an open invitation for tetanus as my inventory gets older. I definitely don't want to custom build anything.

There are a few examples on Amazon. I definitely don't want anything that is double sided as I want this to rest against the wall. I want it to be an open shelf for speed and simplicity.

Anyone have a similar setup? Like I said, I'd like it to be a bit taller but I am not finding too much out there. I am a cheapskate but lazy too when it comes to customization. Probably not the best combo.

Thanks.

Ok, expectations are not realistic. It looks like this stuff costs quite a bit more.

I bought some bins from HF that were blue/red (big/small) from HF. I used mostly the blue ones and made storage under my workbench with door to help keep the dust out of them.

Thanks, I am thinking of welding 2 of their bin shelves to make the most out of it....but still not 18 inches deep. Buy once cry once?

Here's an in progress when I made the shelves.

I didn't need really big bins. I do some fab work but didn't want fasteners getting lost in the bins or simply buying a ton of them to make the bins full. If I have a project going on and going to need (alot) fasteners, I'll stop by TSC and grab a bag of what I need.

Thanks, in my Refurb thread, you can see how I made them and the doors that cover them up. I do have a slight bit of storage behind them also.

If I could just think of what to store behind the bins I would be WAYYY ahead of the game dollar wise if I framed it out like you did. Welder? Soda Blaster? My knees are not that good and the angle would be awkward....HMMMMM

I just keep stuff I don't use often,

gallon jug of Simple Green, to fill the spray bottle

WD-40 gallon jug

Jug of distilled water for coolant mix

Empty anti-freeze jugs to drain from winter storage of Mustang.

RV anti-freeze jug/powerwasher

A rolling box of misc fastener on wheels so it rolls out.

Empty **** crank box

Right on. Maybe I could put a shelf right behind it as well. Just a single one.

Exdactly- will call it.

Also Fastenal will give you the bins free if you buy enough hardware (and possibly sign up for A salespeep to stop by and check inventory/ sell you more!!)

Thanks for all of the help. I missed these posts. I got fed up and went with this here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UZUUIO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Red was the cheapest and I had plenty of Amazon gift cards laying around. This ended up costing me $174 shipped. I picked the red one to save money. All the same for me in a home garage.

My other shelves have the same dimensions so I wanted to take advantage of floor space.

No more testing out my tetanus booster each time I reach for a bolt. :)

Thanks.

sounds like you are more than handy enough to weld together a rack and pick up either metal or plastic bins. or make a bench out of wood like Nutts did.

I prefer old vintage cabinets so check out the metal cabinet thread in vintage section to see some metal cabinets you might be able to find on Craigslist or at auctions.

those plastic bins come up for sale for $1 all the time on our craigslist or they aren't that much new in bulk.

good luck!!!

I'm sorry I missed that you already ordered the new ones from Amazon. good luck and hope they work for you.

now that you'll have them somewhat organized you can still keep an eye out for some vintage cabinets that might make you bring some home and swap out the plastic look like I did years ago.

also you'll have to start eating more blueberries now to make up for your IRON losses in the garage.
