Storage on 2-Post Lift?

I remember seeing something that said not to store a car on a 2-post lift.
If it can hold a car for work, I'm not sure why not for storage. Is this a real thing, or did I imagine it?

Thanks,
Kevin

IIRC, it has nothing to do with the lift, more with the car's suspension staying at full droop for an extended period is not good.

do you plan to park another car underneath it? if you are just taking weight off the wheels to prevent flat spots, I guess that is fine... but what larry said is right, it isn't good to let the suspension hang extended for a long period of time...

why not? I guess you could use limit straps if the bushings will deform slightly at full droop.

Good to know. I pulled up a 2-post lift manual and didn't see anything. Suspension hang being bad would never have occurred to me. Is it about the shock tower mounts or the shocks themselves? I can't imagine what it would be.

The main idea is storage over my daily driver. Easier maintenance or major work would be a major up-side. Space is tight, so I've been going over all options and got curious.

What in the world is everybody talking about? How in the world can leaving the suspension unloaded cause a problem?

If anything, it's the opposite. At the very least, keeping the tires off of the floor will keep them from taking a set.

I've been working on cars for over 30 years and I've never heard any of this. I would be more concerned about the car falling off of the lift, especially if in any kind of seismic zone.
