Storage Option on Pallet Rack

So here is the issue- I currently have 24"D x 10' tall pallet racks in my garage. I have not mounting abilities on the wall. How do i modify the pallet rack to be able to store the smaller items? Need ideas concepts. I tried googling and all i get is what to do with used pallets.

I do have some storage bins for the larger items and will label accordingly. Looking for an idea to handle the small items.

Make one bay or part of a bay a certain height and width then make either a full extension drawer unit or a cabinet. For really small stuff a rollaway under the lowest shelf

Plywood keeps the small stuff from falling through the shelves. Lots of ideas here in these discussions about storing small parts

Dependent on the style of crossbars (horizontals) you have. Some have pockets to install 2 byes from front to back, if so, these can be added to create a solid surface. You can also install 2 byes on end between the flat ones to create dividers. If you don't have this feature, screens are available to span the openings, or you can use particle board, braced and screwed to the horizontals. As far as bins, plastic boxes, drawers etc, there are a ton of threads on this board for ideas. Good luck!

Located in the Los Angeles area, the racks have 2x and 1" plywood. Thinking of anchoring some sort of roller, but do not want to ruin the bank account. Had a hard time finding something for the pallet style rack.

Not familiar with anything specific for pallet racking attachment. I did a fair amount of research for a generator slide a year ago, and purchased some slides from Amazon. exactly what I was thinking, good ideal not sure if it would work for me, but in some places, it could be very useful.

Back in the 1970's I worked in a large main frame type computer room.
Around 30 tape drives.
The tape library had slide back and forth racks like that.
They were pretty common
The larger, heavier, ones had large cranking wheels to move the racks.

With the going away of tape drives I have seen some that ended up in plant maint shops for part storage.
With large plants going away you might see them in an auction.
I think I have seen one in a auto dealers part dept.

Is there any reason you cannot just put a regular parts cabinet on a rack shelf?

Regular shelving could work but there is nothing i can attach the shelving too or on.

I would just use the pallet rack as a mezzanine level(s) over top of existing drawer cabinets.

2x 's front to back to provide the "floor"
Then an old fasoned, stand alone, cabinet for storage.
