Well the time comes. I need storage solutions for the new house the wife and I are having built. We only have a two car garage and RV parking on the side. We will need more storage solutions for all of our stuff coming from a 3 car garage back to a two car garage. I will be using the shed/portable garage for storing the Goldwing and tow behind trailer. We will also need more storage for all of our other stuff that will not fit in a two car garage. I also plan on organizational solutions in the shed/garage for maximum use of space. We have been looking at barn style 10x12 sheds. I don't mind taking out a permit for a slightly larger shed as the extra room would be very useful. 12X16 would be just about perfect. I have seen some great motorcycle garage buildings but the heights exceeded city code on the ones I have seen.

Does anyone have good sights that would be good for portable sheds or small portable garages? I would like something I can take with me if I move again.

Why not have a bigger garage built when you are building the house?

And you don't need plans for a shed. Just decide how big, and build it. It's a box. You can build it in any shape you want or need.

Now, if you want to take it with you, that restricts things a bit.

How much space do you need in it? What exactly will it hold?

What exactly are your zoning requirements?

What is the lot layout?

Yes, if you could add a 3rd stall to the garage that's being built, you might have your problem solved. While you physically cannot take it with you, depending on how long you stay, the equity likely will transfer.

No one has ever said they wished they had LESS storage space or a smaller shed!

Do you want a portable type unit because you move around a lot due to a job or military requirements?

To move a shed after it has been placed is not impossible, but it is also not cheap. If you move around a lot, and all you need is some extra storage space, and your not really concerned about how the shed looks, then you can get one that is the size you want, without all the bells and whistles, for a good price, and then just leave it there when you move again.

If you are having the house built, then it sounds like you will be there for awhile, so maybe a nice shed that matches the house will fit the bill better.

Beside the bike, what other things do you want to store? If it is smaller things, like season items, then perhaps you could have a storage area built above the garage since you are having the home built. That would give you a lot more storage space than a shed, but you would need to work out the bike parking.

If you plan on maintain your own lawn, and you need the space for lawn care items like mowers, trimmers and such, then a shed is the way to go.

Let us know what you decide to do, and take pictures of the house as its being built!! Good luck with whatever you do!!
