Is it worth buying hand tools that come with a storage tray to put in your tool cabinet? Do you use trays or not?

Some of them are great, some are flimsy ****.

They do help keep your stuff organised and you can see at a glance what's missing.

I still use the one that came with my screwdrivers but only because I'm too lazy to find a better solution.

I junk all the blow molded cases with **** hinges, I use socket rails and/MTS socket caddies and Hansen spanner racks, lately though I've been going for magnetic rails in my van

I do.

I never used to use them, and threw them away.

Nowadays, I keep and use them all. They are my "Tool Control" board. It is easy to lose the bits and pieces forget that half the pieces are in another drawer. With tool kits that have a number of pieces or they are used infrequently, it is the only way to go.

I only use them for screwdrivers, and have one extension set in a tray. The rest of the stuff, there are better storage options. I wish I had trays for the other screwdriver sets.

the flimsy plastic trays that most sets of screwdrivers, wrenches and sockets come in get tossed in the trash.

blowmolded cases get used with the sets or repurposed for stes of test equipment that i purchased in pieces or no that storage case was available.

Even some of the socket sets stay in the trays or boxes. Everything in this draw is 2 or 3 sets deep. I guess I need a bigger box too.

Its like some of the latest trays that Craftsman sockets come in they have about 50% more plastic then is needed and they do take up valuable space in the drawers.

I used to keep my tools stored in them but soon ran out of real estate. So now I have a pile of tool trays that I need to figure out what to do with.
