Never really thought about, just put it in the corner for the summer, But is there a "recommended" procedure for storing your kerosene or diesel "torpedo" heater for the summer ?

Can't help you with the correct answer, but mine sat idle for almost 10 years. When I plugged it in it fired right up. Same fuel.
I'm sure there is a procedure --
I owned one for about 20 years before I gave it to my brother. The one year I let it run dry and cleaned it up and stored it away was the only year it did not work correctly the next winter. Had to give it a tune up and good internal cleaning (thought the pump had failed)
After that I would keep about 1/3 of the tank filled.
Mine was a small 30k unit -- Bought it when I was building a cabin and would use it when working outside in colder weather.
I only used Kero in mine. When I started it up for the first time I let it get good and hot and would allow the fuel to run out with use before I refilled .... you can tell when they get low as they start to flutter. A bit more fuel -- allow to run down .... then I would fill it up. Easy way to get all the old fuel out ..
I know people say they can have fuel problems with them sitting ...

Keep fuel in it! Or the tank will be full of rust and condensation!

Part of the reason I bought a propane torpedo heater instead of kerosene.

I just leave mine on the floor, hanging out where I can trip over it every time I pass.
Really should cover it this year, though, to keep the dust off.
