Storing air tools upside down with quick connect coupler

I'm thinking of was to store my air & power tools. For the air tools, I was thinking of getting a few quick connect female couplings and drilling out the core. Then shoot a screw thru the coupling into a wooden shelf. The air tool will hang upside down.

Is it ok to store air tools with all the weight on the connections? We're talking about nailers (18, 15, 16ga, framing, palm nailer) & an air nibbler.

There's a company called "Tool Wrangler" that makes them specifically for the application I described - but they are on the pricey side. Figured I could hack it with the cheapest HF quick connects I could find.

**Edit - whats the difference b/w "T series" quick couplers and "I/M" series quick couplers?

It's not a problem storing them that way, but will end up being a pain the tail over the long run. It becomes a two hand operation to hang them up or retrieve them. Way easier to simply put them in a drawer.

If you think weight might be a problem - consider storing them upright.

Might be cheaper and/or easier to simply cut slots in some suitable steel flat bar stock or such. Meanwhile, I store my ATs in a portable tool box that slides under my storage shelves - 'work benches'.

I bought an 1980 SnapOn van and it has a similar system to showcase their tools. The quick connect threads into a fitting that has flange with two screw holes. I dont have pics handy.

That would work fine but I would use two pins and straddle the QD fitting. It will be quicker that trying to line up a drilled hole.

easy make or buy and easy use one handed .
Using couplers is good way go on a very mobile toolbox side holder or scenario where working environment means covered fittings beneficial .
couplers also hold tool fixed position which possible benefit on some larger odd shaped tools ...

That second one is bad news. You don't want their blowholes exposed to the joyous spray of **** that crosses most work benches.

I went to a tire store and got a handful of used valve stem caps and put them on my air tools hanging upside down- I have the Milton M style plugs.

I like the idea of storing the tools the way the OP wants to. I would make sure the air inlets are capped off so no dust or dirt enters the tool while being stored.
