Storing an engine stand... or 2...

Hey guys/gals,

I just finished up building/swapping parts over from 1 motor to the next, and now I guess I'm in a pickle. I got 2 engine stands sitting in my garage, taking up precious space. My question or challenge for you is, how do you store 2 engine stands? I bought them from Harbor Freight. I know I will need them in the future, but at the moment they are just in the way. Any help or ideas?

I assume its a 3 wheeled type, if so I send it in, (long wise) between the deep freeze and work bench, Ill I have to deal with is the mounting plate, the rear (wide) end only sticks out a couple of inches from my bench.
you can try to dis-assemble it. Mine only has 1 bolt that holds it in the "T" remove the bolt and I have 2 streaight pieces!

ahh, I forgot to say what type it is.

It has 4 wheels, but it looks like the 3 wheel'd type. The base looks kind of like an "I"

Take it apart and put it under your bench or in a closet. I had one under my bench so long that I actually forgot it was there until I was cleaning last year.

let a couple of buddies borrow them. when you need them again go ask if you can use their engine stands. Works for my cherry picker

It disassembles. I greased the fitting where it rotates, so if I ever get my engine off the stand and back into the car I'll probably have to wrap stuff in plastic when I disassemble it, but it'll go on a bottom shelf somewhere. Nothing too special.

i took mine apart and threw it in the attic above the garage. put the hardware back in the holes so you don't lose it. then my neighbor needed one last year, so i let him borrow it. then he finished up with it and tried to give it back to me. i dragged my heels because i didn't really have the space to put it anywhere and he stuck it in his shed. been there since. i really oughta get that back.....

as far as an engine hoist, it's great to know someone with one.

Mine is broken down into a few pieces, somewhere back under the depths of my work bench. It serves double duty as a habitat for dust bunnies.

I take mine apart and ratchet strap it to my engine hoist.

make it earn it's keep if it is a 4 wheel by removing the upright [ or not] and turn it into a big *** dolly by applying a deck.........even mount a tool box on it if the wheels are better than what's on the box...........one i have doubles as this, just don't get too carried away and it turns out to be more work to unload when needed..........damihkt......storing the beer fridge comes to mind, off the floor and if needed and too heavy well lightening the load goes a lot easier.....

Get another engine on it and put it to use. Both mine are occupied at the moment.

I just disassemble mine and put it outside leaning against the garage. I don't live where it is real wet, so corrosion is a small concern. Also keep my engine hoist outside when not being used, it takes up way too much space to keep inside.

I have two engine hoists and four stands outside right now.

I remove the upright arms from the bases then the things go up in the attic of the garage.

This is how I store mine in the corner. I used some screw in bicycle hooks and an existing 2X4 that was already nailed to the stud on the right side. You might want to use another hook on that side.
