On my muscle cars, I just remove them. On my Sears tractor, I park it in the shed in the fall and don't touch it til mid-April. No problems. Since 1998, only replaced that battery once.

my first post here... anyone use Pulse Tech XC100-P Xtreme Charge 12V Battery Maintenance Charger Desulfator? Seems a little pricey but has great reviews. I need to put my motorcycle to bed for the winter (not a fan of riding in the snow or cold) and want to ensure the old battery is good in the spring.

Yeah, I have one and like it.

Everyone's situation is somewhat unique, I have 5 motorcycle batteries, 6 deep cycle RV batteries and three car batteries that need to be kept up over the winter. I take them out of the vehicles and line them up on a bench; they are stored in the heated shop just in case I forget to rotate the charger and then I swap the charger from batt. to batt. every time I remember. This isn't my home garage, so I'm not out there all that often.

That way, if I forget to charge them they won't freeze; I've frozen four Trojan T104's and two group 27 RV batteries in the last 5 years....it gets pricey!

I pull most the batteries and store them in my heated shop all winter. Charge them up good and then hit em once or twice during the winter. I have 6 C-Tek chargers and large power strip so it's pretty easy. Gives me something to do. LOL

Thanks. I've been eyeing the XC100-P for a while. I'm currently using and old Schumacher trickle charger to keep the battery topped off. I got it 3rd hand. I'll be pulling the battery from the motorcycle for the winter

I've heard that's the ONLY way to keep a battery fresh for years!
