Meh, Theres a couple of rods on the door.

Drop a couple of 1x4s from the roof area over that door and I could store 30-40 of them there. most of mine ride in PVC tubes when not on the water. I just need some space to stash a tube!

My woodworker girlfriend made this for my over-sized collection of rods, going into the garage as soon as I get a new slab in place.

Found this idea here at GJ and just modified it a little.

Some of mine are in Fenwick plastic rod cases. Some in PVC tube. Others are naked or in rod socks. It's easy to make a place to store them, out of the way, between the rafters or joists over your garage.

Check out the following link. I'm looking for honest feed back.

Good use of space. But, whenever the door is raised the rods will rotate in the holders. So you may see some wear marks on the contact points eventually. Also probably not a good idea for a 8 ft. wide door, clearance will be tight and may get bumped or move from vibration into the track when the door is raised and damage or break a rod tip.

If you have a secure room, out of sight from passersby and trespassers, it would be cool to display your collections, openly. Otherwise...

1 X 2 screwed to studs. AFT rod holders screwed to 1X2. Holders spaced on reel width.

I've got a wall rack (I think it's rapala) but it's old, found it at a junk store. Actually...really good for holding long breaker bars.:bounce:

As with most of my non-essential stuff it's not the best quality, basically stuff I picked up cheap. I've still got most of my original fishing equipment from 16 years ago, I basically replaced a couple of floaters, sinkers, and synth worms. I don't fish to eat, hell I don't eat fish at all (besides canned tuna) so not a big deal for me if I got some damage or warpage on my rods.

Basically you want a wall rack with foam inserts to grip the rods. Fairly easy to make if you do it yourself, even cheaper if you remove the reels before storage (you could make it out of furring strips with zero issues). I'm not sure where to get proper foam but maybe some sort of carpet padding would be okay if you mount it to the wood "prongs" with non-marring fasteners or just glue it.

When we go camping we use old bags from the soft fold up chairs, we seem to have a few kicking around the garage, chair wears out before the bag. The when we get back we just toss the on a shelf.

Smilar to what we did - got the idea from a fishing lodge we went to, a pair of 2x4 boards mounted to the wall (up and down) about 6-7 feet apart, with pegs at about a 15 degree up angle 8-10 inches apart. VERY reasonable price wise (what's lumber and 1/2" dowling and glue?), Hang a lot of rods up there, always accessable, and being against a wall I don't worry about cracking a tip. And, unlike the PVC pipe storage my dad used, they have a chance to dry out completely...
