OK, we all know ignition wrenches are pretty much obsolete, but obsolescence makes the heart grow fonder with us tool junkies. The one thing that has always bothered me about them is the lack of efficient storage. Mine are pretty much all Craftsman from about 30 years ago, and they of course live in the ubiquitous Craftsman plastic pouch. If you want to use one, you end up dumping them onto the bench and pawing through them...a less than elegant solution:
Outlawmws came up with a solution on this forum awhile back...a big clip:
That's a great idea, but I didn't have any of that style clip. What I did have was a pile of things called "book rings", left over from the old days of training with overhead viewgraphs. Every month I would get my Safety Meeting overheads held together with these:
Perfect for holding those ignition wrenches...and you can select the size you need and then remove it from the ring if you need to use the box end:
But what about these? No box end to fit on the ring...I figured I would have to resort to the old pouch:
Then I remembered something from my childhood...my Dad had a little coin holder that sat on the dashboard of the car, perfect for toll change (back in the day when tolls were 25 cents):
I found one on Ebay, and voila! Wrenches stored perfectly:
Cheers,
Paul
