I am looking for Ideas for ways to store jacks and jack stands out of the way. I tried searching but I know I am missing some good ideas.

My neighbor hangs his stands on the wall sideways. I need to get a couple sets off the ground, myself. I think the floor jack can just stay on the floor. Bottle jacks can rest on shelving, though.

I built about a 2' riser to hold my top box up off the ground so that I could fit my roller under my cabinets and also take advantage of the rollers top as a work bench. Since I would have had to put the whole thing there anyway, I didn't lose any space and storing the jacks and stands under there works out perfect. Probably not what you had in mind, but it's a very efficient way to maximize space in my very cramped 1 car.

One of the members had a pic on here a while back. They had a piece of plywood, finished, and trimmed out, maybe 18" wide to catch two studs and at least 4' if not longer. This was fastened to the wall, then hooks were added to the plywood to hang the jackstands on, legs of the stands against the plywood.

I just set them out of the way. :)

There are a couple of things I do the the jacks when I'm finished with one though.

I cover each jack body with a two liter drink bottle that I cut the top end out of. This keeps dust, dirt, sawdust, and blood, off of the jacks.

I also make sure that the ram is down as far as it will go, and the pump plunger is also down as far as it can go. This decreases the chances of rust on their sealing surfaces when the jacks sweat.

I also seat and then back off of the release about a half a turn. In the event it sticks or rusts, it's a lot easier to free up if you can rock it in two directions rather than one.

i have mine on a shelf in the shed. i don't use them often enough to justify taking up real estate in my 14x20 attached garage. i also keep my ramps on the same shelf.

Here is a rack I made so that I could get some floor space back.

Does it cause any problems to hang the jack on the wall like that?

Ummm, I have that jack. It leaked like crazy. There has been a recall on it, but I can't find the history.

Finally I replaced all the seals and filled it with stop-leak jack fluid. Now it only leaks when its not level on the ground.

However, I like that jack holder. How much did it set you back? I think I might use it to justify buying a decent jack! How do I get one?

I made a drawer for storing eight of my jack stands. I used the wasted space under the stairway. Slides are 33" long. M/C jack stores underneath.

Details on how I built it can be found in my gallery ASYLUM thread.

My jack stands are hung upside down from the bottom chord of a roof truss on hooks, and 2 of the floor jacks are under my work bench.
