Storing random or specialty sockets in toolbox

Working on organizing the new box and I have a ton of specialty or random sockets that I need to find a way to keep them from rolling around. Things like spark plug sockets, oil pressure sockets, axle nut sockets, and stuff like that. I know I've seen magnetic plates before that look like they might be a good option but the ones I'm finding are pretty small and pretty expensive. Is there a decent priced one that is like 24" by 18" or so? Or another option that might be as good?

I always used rails. But that was because there were few options back in the day. Magnetic plates might be the answer but you may have to buy several for the size you want. Not cheap but not excessively costly.

I use this one for those. It's got all three sizes of pegs and at least keeps them organized to the greatest extent.

Rails for socket sets, randoms in small fixing tackle boxes to keep them together.

I just use rails too. It keeps all that stuff together. The rails can take any drive size clip, and there can be as much space between clips as necessary.

I mostly use rails but a few are sitting loose in a drawer that is packed with ratchets and assorted drive tools.

Been using rails for years. Often I am filling a track side box and pulling the sets I need work well this way.
My whole top drawer in a krl 1032 is filled with sockets on rails on the far right side I keep the sets of crowsfeet. The most annoying set is the long allen keys they fit standing up but wobble over a lot.

The spark plug sockets are right on the rail with the others.

I keep my impacts and large chrome sockets on rails but in the drawer with the impact stuff.

I just have so many sockets they are packed in my box so everything just stands up I have alot of rails but some loose extras. My favorite is the Snap on holder that has all 3 drive sizes and each one unclips but it's big and takes up alot of room I think it was $45 mine got green rails. I also have alot of the metal rails which stand up against each other I have so many again the snap on one's are best.

What's the brand/model on that?

Looks like I cut the manufacturers name off when I trimmed it to fit the drawer. But I can find it pretty easy, it seems like every time I go looking at organizers I come across these. I'll take a look on a real puter and come back. It was a decent unit and labeled nicely. Problem was it only allowed one of each size in both SAE and metric. So for me I would have had to have five of them to cover everything and if I remember right, it was too tight for impacts, but I could be wrong on that one.

Rails

Most of my sockets are on rails, magrails to be exact. I have metric on the left, on blue rails and SAE on the right on red rails. Separating metric from SAE are my specialty sockets, hex bits, torx bits, plug sockets, etc. on black rails.

I like rails better, they have a smaller footprint than a tray.

I have the normal sockets on Hansen trays. The extra and odd ones in organizers.

Btw, I'm in full agreement that rails are the best way to go. This is my main drawer. The over flow and 12 point drawer are all my old stuff and Hansen trays.

You could find a magnetic parts dish that fits and use that. They are cheap and there are lots of different shapes and sizes.
