How do you guys store your safety glasses to keep them clean, but easy enough to grab when you need them? The ones I buy come in a clamshell pack and I just hang them on pegboard above the work bench, but I'm looking for a better solution.

A little wooden recipe box. Flip up the lid and grab a pair. Get one from the wife that she is not using (ask if you want to avoid big trouble) or look around for one just the right size.

I just leave several pairs of glasses all over the shop. The are cheap, so I do not worry about scratching them up.

But, an old cigar box would be my solution to your problem.

Not too long ago the wife picked up a case of glasses from Sams. 12 pairs for $20 or some such. She got 12 clear and 12 tinted. They come with a big dispenser that keeps them clean until I pull a set out. Then I just either keep them on my face or put them back in the gladiator cabinet where I sto all the gloves/glasses.

I just wipe them off if they are dusty and toss them after they get messed up. Free from work anyhow. They would rather give them out to us that use them instead of folks coming in on Monday with steel in the eye.

I am old so my safety glasses are bifocal glasses, I have a shelf by the door, put them on when I walk in the garage, take them off when I walk out.

Ok, not that old but at 52 the eyes ain't what they used to be and I need the bifocal safety glasses

I wear either clear or tinted (sun glasses) bifocal safety glasses all the time (as if they were normal eye glasses). I keep an extra pair of each in the garage for rougher duty.

Edit: I forgot the point -- I don't store safety glasses -- I wear them :)

I keep a few pair around the house on a shelf in the utility room. A couple of pair (tinted and clear) in my work bag. In the shop a few are on workbenches, but I do keep about a dozen in a large zip lock bag in one of my cabinets.

When I have changed styles of glasses (even minimal changes due to them not carrying x brand), my store bought safety glasses wouldn't always fit.
So I bought prescription ones. They came with one of those old shirt pocket/belt holders, that I still see at garage/estate sales.

A late friend mounted a shelf by the entry to his (wood/metal) shop. He hit the light switch and grabbed his glasses, and said it was a habit he got into due to his old work.

I keep a pair on each piece of machinery, drill press, table saw, router table etc so I have to pick them up before I can use the machine. It keeps me from forgetting to put them on. Others I keep on a shelf in the garage. I buy them in bulk when some place has them on clearence so I don't worry too much about scratches. For dust, I just wipe them off.

Me too. All of my equipment, whether it is a drill press, reloading press, or shop press has a pair hanging on it. For the most part, I have a pair on while I am in the shop, but not if I am just hanging out. I must have ten pairs in the shop. Same goes for hearing protection- I have a box of plugs, and all the louder gear has a pair of muffs hanging next to the safety glasses.
