Storing securly in a 2 car garage

I'm just looking for suggestions and ideas.

I have a house that I want to rent out part time. It's in a area that vacation renters would use it. I have a two car garage and want to keep a car and some personal items on one side, then let the renter use the other side. It has one door for both bays.

The traditional idea would be build a 2 x 6 wall and a door. Then some partition over the end.

I've been thinking of something less permanent and would be more open when I'm there. Is there such a thing as a secure curtain or chain link set up like I see in malls when the stores are closed? Like a steel shower curtain sort of thing.

Any ideas?

Is cost a factor?
Also, allowing the renter and anyone else to be able to see what is stored makes the items less secure. Out of sight, out of mind.
Alternatives:
Store your stuff elsewhere.
Keep the whole garage for your use.
Add on to garage.
Build another structure.
Temporary shelter for renters car.

Does the renter need to use the garage? I'd say just keep the whole thing to yourself. I doubt it will matter to any renters.

It might be more work than its worth, but a expanded metal screwed or welded to a 1x1 square tube frame would be secure, but maybe too industrial looking?

3/4 plywood screwed to a light wood frame that's secured to the floor with tapcons?

Very simple - pvc tube frame with heavy black plastic stretched floor to ceiling. Not very secure but certainly limits access, and if you trust your renters not to steal the plumbing I suppose you could trust them not to break into the garage?

I doubt most vacation renters would need both car spots in the garage. If you are renting on a weekly basis, you should definitely do chainlink as a minimum. You could put the plastic slats in the fencing like you see around some pools to keep visibility low. Then through a tarp over everything just too keep prying eyes out. Put the door to the fenced area as close to the garage door as possible so that you have to have the garage door open to open the fence. This way, if they are going to break into your stuff, they have to worry about the neighors watching them.

I rented a house out to some friends for a couple of years. I left a bunch of stuff in the attached shop. I wasn't worried about them stealing stuff, and in fact they used some of the stuff to keep up the house. But after a couple of years, we lost track of what was theirs and what was mine so I lost some stuff and gained some junk. If I had it to do over, I would put up a fence and seperated it.

Chain link fence is pretty cheap. And you can add privacy slats to it.

When I rented out the pole barn, I had a few rules. First off, you can only access with me as the alarm was tied into the house. If you want something out of it, we have to set up a date and time. There was no random access because then I could keep stuff in there as well unsecured. Worked great, esp. for snowmobiles and boats.

If you really need to let them use it - I'd get a chain link fence floor to ceiling, bolted to floor with lockable gate for entrance. That being said, for me personally, I'd just keep the garage locked. Vacation renters really don't need access to a garage spot. That's my $0.02.
