I am thinking about putting storm doors on my garages two entry doors. I did a search and looks like the last recommendations post is about ten years ago. Any updates on what are the recommendations on storm doors (brands, types, etc.)? Thanks in advance. :dunno:

No updates on recommendations. From 10 years ago Pella seemed to have an edge in quality over Larson. Others used Anderson with good results. Just wondering if anything has changed in the 10 years as to quality of the these and other brands of storm doors? I installed a Larson on my main entrance about 10 years ago and it is holding up fine. Kind of a bear to install. Local Pella store wants $240 to install a door. Talked with a local contractor, he wanted $400. For that I will install my own doors again.

When needing a typical metal .... always used EMCO (Forever) ... forever is = to about 20 years w/ a lock and canister replacement at 10.

I like the Forever because it had a simple full glass panel ...

Andersen bought EMCO and now they make at lest 3 different price points ... The Larson was about the same.

I can't believe Pella is only $250 ... that must be just the labor.

If the opening is correct they are not hard to install

Two of the three Larson storm doors on my house have required replacing the door latches after about 5 years. All three are about 12 years at this point and the two most used need replacing. So, I'm in the same boat, shopping around.
