Straighten a smashed socket?

I'm curious how he managed to deform one side of the socket... Was it being used to press something out?

Buy a new one.
Save the bent one. Quietly/discreetly.
Someday, slide it into a co-worker's set RIGHT BEFORE he REALLY needs a socket that size.

Al, ill keep that in mind!

I tried doing the padlock two wrench idea to spread it back and ill tell ya what, that unobtainium Snap-on alloy didnt as much as budge. Very impressive.

And to the guy that corrected me on the socket size, i can read. But trust me, this is 1-3/16 now.

Do not heat it, you'll end up annealing the temper out of it. I thinks it was used in a press, I MO I agree if it was something you did, hang it on the wall of shame, and buy a new one.
