I just checked Amazon . yes. and it is about $1.65 a foot in packaged lengths.

I know I've seen it in tray cable. It's a more expensive option that satisfies more code requirements too.

Ive never seen it on the shelf.
Southwire doesnt make it per their PDF spec sheet. Possible another brand does

Tray cable isnt the same as NM-bI know I've seen it in tray cable. It's a more expensive option that satisfies more code requirements too.

Easier to handle.I don't recall NM-B starting as stranded until #8.
Why does it matter as long as it is the correct gauge?

Agreed. I never said it was. Neither is NM-C or UF, but any of these would also substitute for NM-B.Tray cable isnt the same as NM-b
