Looking at using a Leviton 3033 switch with #10 wire. One of the wires will be stranded cord (SJOOW). I didn't see any notes on the data sheets about type of wire so thinking stranded is ok. This has clamps not back stabs. Looks like I need a box about 27 cu. in. so may need to go to a dual gang box to have enough room. Three cables - each 2 conductor plus ground - 2 cables are NM-b and one SJOOW. Planning to use an old work plastic box. It's in an RV so no studs to fasten to. Think I will glue a ring of 1/4" plywood behind the thin paneling to give it a bit more support.

the problem with using cordage is the stranding is real fine vs building wire. doubt the switch is listed for use with cordage since cordage is not to be used in place of permanent building wire.

I could add some pig tails of solid or stranded building wire. Even more reason for a larger box or I could add a box nearby just for the splice and change to building wire. Stranded building wire would make it a little easier to push everything into the box - three #10 plus the ground will be plenty stiff especially if they are all solid. What's the minimum size needed for the ground terminal on the switch? Might as well make that as small as allowed to make things a bit easier.
I looked it up and code says ground same as main conductors up through #10 so looks like I need full size ground. I still might use #12 just for the switch frame connection.
